Introducing the Nisene FA-LIT

by CSI/CLC

What is the FA-LIT?

The Nisene FA-LIT by CLC (formerly CSI) is a decapsulation tool used to remove the encapsulant from integrated circuits by way of laser ablation. Much like our JetEtch decapsulation system, the precision and ease-of-use of the FA-LIT is unmatched in the industry. The FA-LIT can be used for many applications, but it has been specialized for use in the removal of plastic (and other) encapsulant from integrated circuits.

Go "Green" with the FA-LIT

With over 30 years of experience with decapsulation technology, the Nisene Technology Group FA-LIT by CLC addresses the ever-changing needs of the semiconductor industry.

The move toward "greener" decapsulation technology has become more prevalent in recent years, especially in Europe and Asia; the Americas are beginning to see this requirement as well. As such, Nisene is leading the way yet again by offering its latest innovation in the decapsulation industry with the FA-LIT laser decapsulation system — thereby creating a foothold on the decapsulation equipment market with not only the best wet-decapsulation system available, but now a laser decapsulation system as well.

Why Use Laser?

When used in conjunction with our JetEtch decapsulation system, the FA-LIT equips the user with the ability to etch a sample with very minimal acid use. Etch the sample to within only a few hundred microns of the die surface, and then finish it off with the JetEtch. The lasing process takes literally a few seconds, after which a JetEtch process would also take only a few seconds as well. Attaining that perfect etch simply couldn't get any easier or more efficient.

Copper Wires? No problem.

Aluminum Wires? No problem.

Gold Wires? No problem.

The FA-LIT is remarkably effective on samples with copper wires where die exposure is a requirement of the decapsulation. Due to the unique wavelength and power properties of its available lasers, the FA-LIT is fully capable of etching a sample with copper, aluminum, or gold wires (and any combination thereof) with absolutely no damage to their structural and electrical integrity. In applications where failure analysis is to be completed on an exposed-die sample, this function is key.

With the FA-LIT, you can rest assured that your pesky copper wire sample will be etched to complete die — and even second bond! — exposure with absolutely zero degradation of wires.

It's Intuitive

The FA-LIT is very easy to operate. Intuitive software leads the operator step by step through very basic programming sequences with its simple screen layout and that-just-makes-sense on-screen icons. With its Windows-based GUI, the mechanics and flow through FA-LIT menus is familiar to any user.

A high-brightness LCD monitor ensures excellent visibility under all conditions of ambient illumination.

The FA-LIT is fully programmable and capable of storing a nearly infinite number of etch programs for different package types and etch layouts. Got a process for etching a 25mm BGA with a 5x5mm die? No problem. Simply recall the stored etch recipe and go.

The system can be learned in only two hours. In one-half of a day, you will be a master of the FA-LIT.

It's Affordable

With the status of the global economy in mind, Nisene has the most affordable decapsulation-grade laser etching system in the world. At a price that is up to 40% cheaper than similarly-functioning laser-etching systems, the FA-LIT is the only decapsulation-grade laser system in this price range. Request a quote by clicking here.

25,000-Hour Laser Lifetime

The driving laser in the FA-LIT has a lifetime rating of 25,000 hours at maximum power. Considering max power is rarely used to etch samples, your laser should last quite a bit longer.
